Caution is out on the track at Martinsville Speedway, and I'm heading downstairs for one of those famous hotdogs.  The March wind was a bit nippy in southern Virginia, but Denny Hamlin's victory was mighty sweet!  Thanks go to Santa for bringing me race tickets for the second year running, and to cousin Scott Mitchell for bringing the beer, and snapping this photo!

AMS Auction
This year's meeting of the American Malacological Society was held in July at Southern Illinois University in beautiful Carbondale.  The photo at left shows me goofing around at the auction to benefit the student endowment.  I've just purchased one lovely mollusk-themed treasure and am bidding on another. 







The "Intelligent Design Quartet" had another fun year singing at various churches and social occasions.  The photo at right shows us entertaining the residents at the Bishop Gadsden retirement home in late October.  (Steve Jones, Jaap Hillenius, Brian Scholtens, and yours truly.)
 
  


Barbershopping!
Morris Island Light The photo at left shows us out for a walk at the east end of Folly Beach the day after Thanksgiving.  That's Bryan's friend Kirk Boyer with the walking stick, and Morris Island Light in the background.  Thanks to Uncle Russ Ingersoll for snapping the photo!
