District 10 Start Date Resolution 0401
Whereas CCSD school calendar is now scheduled for the 2nd Monday in August, and,
Whereas
the business community is greatly affected by school starting so early
by
the loss of employees, and
Whereas
child custody agreements
frequently give “summer visitation” through
Labor Day and,
Whereas
starting dates across the state
vary by a month or more and,
Whereas
the mean temperature for August
is over 80 degrees vs. the June mean
temperature of 78 degrees and,
Whereas state and federal
information is not available in time for accurate
enrollment
projections affection budgets, teacher staffing, bus routes, etc and
Whereas
high school students preparing
for post-secondary school work during the
summer,
Be it
resolved that the St. Andrews
District 10 Constituent Board respectfully requests
that the school calendar be
adjusted to start school after Labor Day ending in mid-June.
