To the Parents of District #10:
Please let me share a couple of points regarding District 10's
direction and rezoning. The Constituent Board and I are not
closing,
recommending to close, or against Magnet Schools in District 10.
We
have consistently said, that we should replicate schools that are
excellent and improve our others schools by duplicating what they are
doing. By doing so, all students have the same opportunity to
have the
same programs or courses. District 10 Constituent Board for over
a year
has been discussing having the 5th grades remain at there elementary
schools. There has been no discussions or decisions regarding CEW
status except if all the schools keep there 5th grades why would there
need to be a lottery for 5th graders. The only schools that the
Constituent Board have discussed rezoning are WAMS and WAIS. None
of
the elementary schools are going to be rezoned. But the
question needs
to be put on the table if the schools are equal and with the potential
growth in West Ashley should CEW have an attendance
zone? I have
constantly made the point that nothing has been set in stone nor any
decisions have been made. That this will be along process to
ensure all
parties can be heard. I appreciate your support though in making 3
equal middle schools and having the 5th grade students remain at their
local elementary school. Thank you for your involvement and
input. Only
together, can we make District 10 the best Constituent District
possible
for all kids,
